Knot Okay Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization for Black women and non-binary people promoting self-care, mental health and community building through fiber arts, specifically crochet.
Our free monthly programming is designed to:
Create + maintain an independent, safe, inclusive meeting space
Increase awareness + representation of Black fiber artists
Promote crochet and fiber arts as mental health support tools
Combat the loneliness epidemic by connecting like-minded people for friendship and resources
Create and promote business and educational opportunities for Black women
Dismantle the stereotype that fiber arts are reserved for white women and senior citizens
Spark intergenerational knowledge-sharing and mutual aid
KOC members, known as "Knotty Grrlz" represent the ideological pillars of sisterhood, freedom of expression and the collective fight against gender-based violence, misogynoir, homophobia and racism globally.
Knot Okay Club was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 2022 by multidisciplinary artist and sociologist Camryn Easley. Since then, the organization has onboarded several team members, established 5 state chapters and organically grown to ~4,000 members and ~40,000 supporters internationally.
